In the Early Modern period between 1500 and 1750 some apparently 'new' crimes became common.

Find out all you can about

Smuggling

Highwaymen

Poachers

Vagrants and vagabonds

and then answer these questions:

1. Which were the most serious crimes and why?
2. Was it right to call them all crimes?
3. Did the authorities deal with them successfully?
4. Why did these crimes become common when they hadn't before?
